This timely piece is based on the sign outside well known local eatery Pope Joan and the directional crosses,1.5m apart, found on the pavements outside many cafes in Melbourne in mid-late 2020.
"I created these from a photo of the crosses outside @popejoan...@tinyhavic told me that they reminded her of plague crosses worn to protect people from the bubonic plague and they kind of do look like a contemporary version of that."
Ali Alexander is a true local - crafting jewellery in the heart of Melbourne's CBD. All her pieces are hand-modelled in wax before casting in precious metals, giving her designs a rich sense of individuality and character.
