"Salt, vinegar, mustard pepper, if I dare, I can do better"
This iconic landmark, known to locals as 'Little Audrey', was designed in 1936, and was Australia's first animated neon sign. The whimsical design refers to the name of the brand of Vinegar it promoted - Skipping Girl Brand Vinegar - which in turn paid homage to a children's skipping rhyme popular at the time.
When the sign was removed and destroyed in 1968, there was such public outcry at the loss of this much loved landmark, that a replica was built and installed. Today's 'Little Audrey' is Heritage listed and illuminated in the evenings by a battery of donated solar panels.
Artist Jim Minogue - who designed our beloved 'Little Audrey' - later went on to design Melbourne's famous Nylex Sign.

Inspired by art from the 1950s and 60s, Harper and Charlie use vintage print techniques to achieve their authentic feel. If you look closely you might be able to spot the careful details - slipped registration, slight colour-bleed, or light scuffs in the design - that give these beautiful prints their warmth and character.
All Harper and Charlie prints are designed and made right here in Melbourne using the highest quality commercial grade inks. All prints use premium grade Ilford 180gsm matt paper.
