The Red-tailed Black Cockatoo (Calyptorhynchus banksii) is one of Australia's largest and noisiest parrots. They use their beaks to break open the hard, woody seed capsules of gum trees and their tongues to extract the kernal from the seed pod. Karak the Red-tailed Black Cockatoo was the official mascot of the 2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games.
Also depicted are the Red-rumped Parrot (Psephotus haematonotus), the Australian King Parrot (Alisterus scapularis), Eucalpytus tetragona and Banksia menziesii (native flowering trees), and a native bee.
