Overlooking the Yarra River, this beloved neon sign sits on top of huge malting silos, and is visible from many parts of Melbourne.
The Nylex Clock is heritage listed as an iconic feature of Melbourne and is considered part of the popular culture of our city: The unofficial Poet Laureate of Melbourne, singer Paul Kelley, immortalised the view of the Nylex sign from the Melbourne Cricket Ground in his song "Leaps and Bounds”, and the silos and Nylex sign have often made the news after being scaled by intrepid activists exploiting the unique visibility of the sign and silos to broadcast slogans and calls for political change.
Postcards featuring Harper and Charlie's range of original retro prints. Celebrate the culture, architecture and design of Melbourne and Australia with a tiny piece from Melbourne's contemporary design community!
Inspired by art from the 1950s and 60s, Harper and Charlie use vintage print techniques to achieve their authentic feel. If you look closely you might be able to spot the careful details - slipped registration, slight colour-bleed, or light scuffs in the design - that give these beautiful designs their warmth and character.
